Couples with severe sperm and egg deficiencies may opt for embryo adoption via an anonymous donor.
Embryos are created through donor eggs and donor sperm and are placed in the mother’s womb.
Couples are counselled that the foetus will be their biological child, though not their genetic offspring.

Egg donation

The ovum of a healthy young female will be fertilized by the father and placed in the mother’s uterus.
The process begins with the selection of an anonymous donor from whom eggs are retrieved to create embryos.
This procedure is for older women, women with reproductive problems, and those with genetic disease that they do not wish to pass on.

Sperm donation

All donor sperm samples are retrieved from a registered bank, and are healthy, fertile and screened for diseases and disorders.
These are used for IUI and IVF and the couple is counselled throughout the process.
